Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts: Arts For Every Life

Dr. Phillips Center for the performing arts Arts for every life

To fulfill their vision, Arts for Every Life™, The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts makes performing arts accessible to people from all walks of life, all around the world. With the help of over 19,000 donors and 32 sponsors to date, the Dr. Phillips Center has contributed more than $20.7 million to the community through a variety of initiatives. These initiatives have established the center as a community hub for Central Florida through outreach, education and partnerships. Among these partnerships is the library’s Local Wanderer program, which provides free access to select performances at the Dr. Phillips Center all year long.

Disney Musicals in Schools
Serving Seminole, Osceola and Orange County elementary schools, artists train local teachers to begin and sustain performing arts programs. Every year this initiative concludes with a musical
student-shared celebration in the Walt Disney Theater.

Teen Ambassador Program
A program available to nearly 30 high school students a year, these student leaders learn about non-performing jobs available in the performing arts, including production and administrative roles.

Applause Awards
A regional qualifier to the National High School Musical Theater Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards, the Applause Awards is an annual celebration of high school musical theater excellence. Nearly 3,000 student performers and production crew members are invited every summer to perform a musical number inside the Walt Disney Theater. Ultimately, two performers are chosen to represent the community in New York City.

Project WoW A program developed in partnership with the Orlando Science Center that builds and implements a curriculum for Pre-K students to learn about science through movement and dance.

STROKESTRA
In partnership with London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and
AdventHealth, the center hosts STROKESTRA, an international medical research program that includes a learning exchange session where our community shares musical practices with local stroke survivors and their caregivers to enhance treatment delivery.

AdventHealth School of the Arts
Offering classes year-long, including summer camps and programs, our industry professional teaching artists facilitate classes on acting, musical theater, dance, music and more.

Community Givebacks
Since 2017, the Dr. Phillips Center has led community givebacks meant to spread the joys of performing arts to children, first responders, teachers, veterans and more. Most recently, more than 400 guests from twenty different organizations, including schools, after school programs and local nonprofit groups, participated in a two-day event attending Broadway’s Aladdin.

Broadway Masterclasses & Chatbacks
In partnership with national touring Broadway shows, the center offers masterclasses to individuals of all ages and conversations with performers in a panel-style Q&A session post-show.
