Ferguson's Career Guidance Center

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center is not just an encyclopedia of jobs; it is a tool for working on all aspects of career development. Ferguson’s covers career selection, education, financial aid, resumes, interviewing, contacts, and job skills. There are also over 290 videos on careers and job skills.

In addition to information on career selection, there are sections on essential career skills like communication, leadership, organization, teamwork, and problem solving.

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center is a great starting point for people who are just entering the workforce and it is also a good skill builder for those who are already in the workplace. This resource features four main sections:

Job and Industry Profiles: Including the fastest growing jobs, highest paying jobs, and the most in-demand jobs.

Job-Hunting and Workplace Skills: Focuses on cover letters, resumes, and interviewing.

Career and Industry Resources: Has sections on apprenticeships, internships, summer jobs, and industry resources.

College Planning and Financial Aid: Covers financial aid directories, college planning timeline, choosing a college, choosing a college major, and applying for student loans.

In addition, the Career Interest Assessment allows you to discover occupations and industries that are best suited to your personal interests and strengths. You can read the Career Opportunities News to get advice and insight from career counselors and human resource specialists on presenting your best professional image.

This resource is found in the Career Development section of the Online Databases which includes other useful tools, like ResumeMaker.
