TechKrew Classes

Are you techie or do you wanna be? Join the Krew in a fun environment where you can unleash your creative genius. Build your own apps and video games, mix music, design graphics, record, edit and add special effects to movies, build 3D models, explore electronics and much more! Melrose Camps

With courses ranging from Digital Arts to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), the Melrose Camps give students a chance to explore and learn in a fun and exciting environment with hands-on activities in the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a library card in good standing. Payment must be received to secure a seat, and seats are limited, so register today!

Create your own movie with hands-on training from professional instructors. Write, produce, shoot and edit like the pros in your first video clip in our state-of-the-art video production studio. The camp runs 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on Monday through Friday. Age requirements: 11-17. Capacity: 8. Required Skills: None.

Materials Fee: $25 Out of District Fee: $75 (includes classes and materials fee) Day 1: Lights, Camera, Action: Learn the basic operations and settings of the video studio cameras, as well as general care & use of a camera. Learn about film set positions and be assigned one of these roles. Day 2: Storyboard Development and Documentation: Work in small teams to develop a script and storyboard for short segments to be filmed. Shoot behind-the-scenes footage of development process. Day 3: Production Day 1: Begin filming scripted and storyboarded segments using studio cameras and equipment. Continue shooting behind-the-scenes footage. Day 4: Production continue. Most classes are free to Orange County district resident cardholders, fee cardholders, and Orange County Property Owner cardholders. Some classes include a fee to cover the cost of used materials. Users who reside outside the Library's service area may attend by paying a non-refundable fee at time of registration prior to class time. Please check event details for applicable fees. Where they apply, registration fees must be paid prior to class time. To pay for your class please call us at 407.835.7323 or visit any of our locations in person. A $5 late cancellation fee will be assessed if cancellation is not made the day prior. Registration is required.
