Become Technology Savvy @ the Library

Are you up to the challenge? Learn about new and exciting computer programs this summer and become the savviest of them all! Have fun while becoming Technology Savvy and be eligible to WIN COOL PRIZES! Camp Savvy is a program designed for children ages 6-12. Classes for Kids include Computer Explorer, Easy Typing, The Virtual Painter, Animated Talking Books, Exploring Electronics, Building 3D Models and many more fun and exciting programs.

Family Focus Classes

Look for Family Focus versions of the Camp Savvy classes for fun and learning the whole family can enjoy together.

Melrose Camps

The Orlando Public Library is featuring week-long, 2-hour camp-style sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, for kids and teens! Get hands-on in filming, audio production, graphic design and photography. Join in the fun at the Fab Lab with fun and exciting projecting in combining science and technology. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a Library card in good standing. Seats are limited, so register today!

Most classes are free to Orange County district resident cardholders, Fee cardholders, and Orange County Property Owner cardholders. Some classes include a fee to cover the cost of used materials. Users who reside outside the Library's service area may attend by paying a non-refundable fee at time of registration prior to class time. Please check event details for applicable fees. Where they apply, registration fees must be paid prior to class time. To pay for your class please call us at 407.835.7323 or visit any of our locations in person. A $5 late cancellation fee will be assessed if cancellation is not made the day prior. Registration is required.

Melrose Kids Camp: Crafty Capers (9-12) »

The Melrose Center will feature week-long, 2-hour camp-style sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a Library card in good standing. Seats are limited, so register today! Craft simple and easy projects using LED lights, a Silhouette cutter and a 3D printer. Day 1: Exploring Circuitry with LED Lights: Create a personalized greeting card with a flashing LED! Use electronic components and conductive paint to construct a simple circuit. Learn basic electronics concepts like polarity, switches, conductivity and LEDs. Day 2: Personalized Stickers with Silhouette Studio: Create a customized vinyl sticker using the Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. Learn the basics of Silhouette Studio graphic design software including adding shapes, designs and text. Day 3: Custom Cookie Cutters & 3D for Kids: Use a simple online tool to design your own custom cookie cutter. See your design come to life as it is created on one of our 3D printers. Day 4: Photo Booth and Button Maker: Create your own buttons using photos and a button press. Customize the look of your buttons with graphic design and photo editing software. Day 5: Build a LED Night Light: Create a customized night light using the Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. Create a basic circuit while learning simple circuitry and electronics. Day 6: Showcase: The spotlight is on you! On the last day of the camp, you'll have a chance to present your awesome projects to your family, friends, and others who will attend the camp's Showcase event.
