Got A Life Book Club

Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Southwest Branch

Join a new book club at Southwest Library to discuss great lives and times. From the rich and famous to ordinary folks doing extraordinary things, read some riveting life stories as presented in biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, and historical or travel narratives. At the book club's inaugural meeting, we will discuss Walter Isaacson's Benjamin Franklin: An American Life. September 17, 1787 marks the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. Of all the founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin has the unique distinction of having signed all three of the major documents that established the United States as an independent nation: the Declaration of Independence, The Treaty of Paris, and the United States Constitution. Isaacson provides the full sweep of Franklin's amazing life, showing how he helped to forge the American national identity and why he has a particular resonance in the twenty-first century. Anyone age 18 or older is welcome to attend. The book club meets quarterly at the Southwest Branch Library. No registration needed. For more information, please call 407.835.7323 or email southwest@ocls.info.
