Pilates for Parents & Family
Mondays, February 4, 11, 18 and 25, 6 p.m.
Pilates can be a stress-free way to strengthen your core and body muscles. Learn how everyone in your family can benefit from exercises that are easy to do at home. Instructor Deanna Braunstein will teach the basics of Pilates. All body types and fitness levels are welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Families with children age 8 and older are welcome.
Belly Dance for Beginners
Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 19 and 26, 7 p.m.
The exotic art of belly dancing can be a great way to exercise and entertain. Come to the library to see a demonstration of this ancient form and learn how to belly dance yourself. Instructors from A Magi Dance Studio will present a workshop to provide fun and fitness for everyone.
Vietnamese Cooking Demonstration
Wednesdays, February 6, 13, 20 and 27, 7 p.m.
Local chef and author Ha Roda presents a series of workshops on Vietnamese cooking. Each week she will feature a different meal. Learn about the Vietnamese lifestyle and culture as well as cooking techniques and ingredients. Registration is required. To register, please call 407.835.7323.
Welcome to Bollywood
Thursday, February 7, 7 p.m.
Bollywood is often referred to the Hollywood of the East. It combines numerous styles of dance and is featured in many present-day, popular Indian films. Bollywood mixes belly dance, kathak, Indian folk dance, western popular and modern jazz dance styles. See a very special performance from A Magi Dance Studio at your local library.
Zumba: Fitness & Fun...for Everyone
Saturday, February 9, 11 a.m.
We’re having a dance party and you’re invited! Get your heart pumping, hips swaying and feet moving with the Zumba fitness movement. Featuring Latin dance moves, popular music and toning exercises, Zumba helps burn calories, and gets participants of all ages and backgrounds dancing.
Music with Mr. Harley
Saturday, February 9, 3:30 p.m.
Children and families are invited to a special concert with longtime musician Mr. Harley. Sing, dance and jump along with Mr. Harley as he plays your favorite tunes and his original songs at the library.
Edgewater High School Orchestra
Thursday, February 21, 6 p.m.
The Edgewater High School Orchestra will perform a variety of classic and contemporary songs at the library. Meet the students and teachers behind this talented group of musicians.
Saturday, February 23, 2:30 p.m.
Derek of Derek and the Slammers performs live at the library! Covering all genres of music from Swing to Reggae, Derek’s large repertoire has made him a household name around Orlando. Bring the family or even a friend and enjoy free music.
