The many calls for sweeping changes to Florida's property tax system are already a hot topic for this year's legislative session.  At first blush, tax-burdened homeowners may delight in the prospect of a lower tax bill but they should think twice before supporting such dramatic measures. Why? Because every silver lining has a cloud and the reality is that the property tax burden will be eased at local expense. Property tax is a primary source of revenue for the Orange County Library System. Any reduction in the amount of property taxes is likely to result in cuts in library service.
