Meet the Director
Welcome to the Orange County Library System! An exciting construction project is underway at the Main Library. Thanks to a generous $1 million dollar donation from the Kendrick B. Melrose Family Foundation, the 26,000-square-foot Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation & Creativity is now in the works. The center will be located on the second floor of the Main Library. It will include sound, film and photography studios, along with flight simulators and a fabrication lab with 3-D printers. Plans are also in the works for driving simulators for teens and construction simulators that will allow workers to earn certification in the building trades. You can follow its progress through the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation & Creativity blog.

We can help with that too. Our Citizenship Inspired program is designed to help prepare people to successfully navigate the naturalization process. Challenged with caring for an aging parent? Our Counsel for Caregivers series addresses care-giving concerns and is offered at three library locations each month. Meanwhile, our Right Service at the Right Time website helps people tap into multiple outlets for public and private assistance.

We are pleased to be offering a special Fall Family Fun series. Area families are invited to celebrate the season with fun activities including magic, music, comedy, science and more. It's happening at a library near you this fall. All this year, we are celebrating Viva Florida 500, the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon's landing on the east coast of Florida in 1513. We have a terrific line-up of special programs to celebrate this historic milestone.
Thanks for visiting our website. We also hope to welcome you in person to one of our 15 convenient locations. Of course, if you can't make it in person, you can always enjoy us digitally or you can use our convenient home delivery service to request items and have them delivered right to your door. Yes, it really is that simple. Our catalog contains more than 1.5 million items in many formats -- even downloadable videos. Finally, please consider becoming a Friend of the Library.
