Young Makers (Oct 20 - Oct 24)

Go from idea to invention with hands-on training in 3D design, electronics, basic engineering and robotics. The camp runs Monday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Age requirements: 9-12. Capacity: 8

October 20: 3D Printing: Create a Race Car: Create a Race Car: With easy-to-use 3D modelling software, design and create a model race car using custom shape and object tools. Learn how to give your 3D objects a realistic look and texture.

October 21: Squishy Circuits: Create circuits and explore electronics using conductive dough. Make your Squishy Animal come to life with lights! Learn to make the dough from safe non-toxic household items.

October 22: 3D Design and JitterBots: Use 3D design software and a 3D printer to customize a simple robot. Build a complete JitterBot with motors, batteries and LED lights.

October 23: Soldering Basics: Build a simple circuit with a soldering iron and components. Learn to safely use a soldering iron correctly to join components and wires.

October 24: Create a Custom Glider with the Silhouette Cutter: Create a customized glider using the Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. Learn the basics of the Silhouette Studio graphic design software including adding shapes, designs and text.

Tweens & Teens Camps

Photo & Graphic Design (Nov 1 Nov 29)

Join other teens to design and create your very own comic book. Along the way you'll learn about storyboarding, photo studio equipment, photo editing, typography, pen tablets, button making, and so much more! The camp if offered Saturdays in November, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Age requirements: 11-18. Capacity: 8

November 1: Intro to Cameras and Storyboarding: Design and create a storyboard to begin crafting scenes for your comic book. Learn about DSLR cameras and lenses.

November 8: Photo Shoot and Editing: Work as a team to create photo studio images. Learn how to work with photo studio equipment and lighting set ups. Use Adobe Photoshop to enhance your images and apply effects and filters.

November 15: Design and Typography Using Adobe Illustrator: Design a logo, action words, and speech bubbles for your comic book using Adobe Illustrator. Create a custom pin-backed badge using one of your designs!

November 22: Digital Graphics Using Pen Tablets: Use a Wacom Pen Tablet to design a cover for your comic book. Composite images and drawings using Adobe Photoshop.

November 29: Desktop Publishing Using Adobe InDesign: Design the layout of each page in your comic book in Adobe InDesign. Adjust page setup options to prepare it for printing. Print and assemble your comic book.
