Meet award-winning author Christopher Tozier and learn about Florida's ancient magic! Tozier, a self-published local author, will speak about the characters in his fantasy series. Learn more about Olivia Brophie and the amazing characters and creatures in his books. He will also be displaying fossils to show the inspirations behind the wild creatures in the Olivia Brophie series. Book sale and signing will follow the program.
Award-winning Orlando Sentinel reporter and local author Jeff Kunerth talks about his book Trout: A True Story of Murder, Teens and the Death Penalty. Trout is the story of three Pensacola teens involved in a mistaken identity murder for hire in 1991. Their story is told in the larger narrative of juveniles tried as adults and the U.S. Supreme Court rulings that have declared kids are different than adults. Kunerth will share more about this case study which serves as a cautionary tale of teen dynamics, psychology and tragedy. Book sale and signing will follow the program.
Join us the first Tuesday of each month at 12:15 for a lively lunchtime discussion. June's book is E.L. Doctorow's "Homer & Langley", an imaginative rendering of the lives of New York's fabled Collyer brothers. "Homer & Langley" depicts the brothers as recluses in their once grand Fifth Avenue mansion, facing odyssean perils as they struggle to survive the wars, political movements, and technological advances of the last century.
