A Civil Rights March Through Time

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Civil Rights Act of 1964, Professor Don Harrell of the University of Central Florida Africana Studies Program chronicles the historical affairs that led to its enactment. The discussion begins with the European exploration into the African continent and the establishment of chattel slavery in America and concludes with the legislation that finally outlawed discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion or gender in public places in the United States.
