Meet Maria Clark and Dave Lapham, authors of the book, Crossing the Elde Bridge: A Memoir of Survival. Born into an aristocratic, Catholic, Austro-Hungarian family, Maria Clark lived a privileged but isolated childhood. But her fairy-tale life disintegrated just before Christmas 1939, when she was kidnapped by the Nazis.
Maria came to know all the horrors of war and its aftermath—forced labor, starvation, beatings, and more. Her book is an account of the heroism and fortitude as a young woman who lived through the indescribable atrocities of the most savage war in history. Crossing the Elde Bridge is a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, bittersweet story of survival. Book sale and signing follows program.
