February 2013 is off to an exciting start as we have new classes and workshops starting this month! Check out the What's New section to learn about all the new offerings we have and information about the Workforce Central Florida and OCLS Job Seekers Partnership. This month starts the FAB LAB workshops which will feature Snap Circuits and Replicator 3D printer, new to OCLS! Do you want to take classes but just can't find the time to get to the Library? .: Open Study Lab: Access to Free College Courses Online
For those who can't get enough lifelong learning, educational web offerings such as Coursera, Udacity, Khan Academy, iTunesU and Codecademy provide hundreds of accredited and non-accredited courses that anyone can take for free. Drop into one of our study labs to learn about free college online and begin taking courses in subjects that range from engineering to philosophy to computer science. Study Labs are every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Mac Lab at the Orlando Public Library. For more information or to register, call 407.835.7323 or visit our website.

Job Seeker Workshop and Computer Classes
Workforce Central Florida (WCF) is continuing their partnership with the Orange County Library System to provide Employability Skills Workshops and computer classes. WCF representatives will present a one-hour Employability Workshop, which will be followed by a one-hour Job Seeker computer class. Re-employment Assistance claimants may substitute workshop attendance for their required five weekly job search contacts. WCF staff will provide participants with a Re-employment Activity Tracking form to document participant attendance. Snap Circuits Electronics Workshops

Use Snap Circuits to explore the basics of electronics while you build exciting projects such as flashing lights, a radio alarm, a doorbell and so much more. Make learning electronics a snap!
3D Printing Workshop featuring the Makerbot Replicator 2
Orlando Public Library, Downtown
Get a firsthand view of the Replicator 3D printer in action as it builds an object layer by layer! Draw and design your very own three dimensional solid objects using an easy-to-use modeling software.
Workshops and classes are free to Orange County resident library card holders in good standing. For participants without an Orange County library card and out-of-county residents, the cost is $10 per person, per class. Select a course track that suits your small business interests and learn the latest computer software programs to help run your business more efficiently. .: Preparation Classes for the Microsoft Office Tests
Get ahead of the competition! If you're looking for a job, then becoming a Microsoft Office Specialist could give you an advantage -- plus, it looks good on your resume! These classes are now offered at select Orange County Library locations and are scheduled for two and half hours. Once you complete the prerequisite Word, Excel, or PowerPoint class series at the Library, you'll be ready for these preparation classes.

If you are in search of information, this is the site for you! The Worldbook Online Reference Center offers computer and web tutorials and a How To link offers suggestions on "how to" use credit cards, create a good resume and more! There are even links on How to Do Research and searching for and creating timelines. The reference center also offers access to a large number of primary source documents, articles and e-books. If you're doing a research paper or are just curious, the Worldbook Online Reference Center is for you!
.: Staff Spotlight! Carolina B.
Carolina has worked with the Orange County Library System for over a year. As a Casual Technology Trainer, Carolina takes training assignments that allow her to visit and teach at multiple locations. Carolina likes being a Technology Trainer because of "the confidence and self-pride a student gains when learning something they thought they couldn't do." When she's not teaching, Carolina enjoys horseback riding, reading tech books and traveling. A few closing words Carolina would like to impart to our patrons, "Come to your neighborhood library! There are so many free great resources! You will feel so accomplished when you learn something new! You can do it!"

.:: Adding a Horizontal Divider in Microsoft Word
It's easy to add a variety of horizontal divider lines to Word documents. To create a solid, black line for example, type three HYPEHNS (-) at the beginning of a new paragraph and then press the Enter key. See the table below for a guide to the types of lines you can create:
