.: Staff Spotlight! Rhonda O.
Rhonda has worked with the Orange County Library System for over six years as a Technology Trainer at the Herndon branch and has over 21 years of experience working with computers. Rhonda enjoys being able to help others and encourages them to learn so that they can enrich their lives. One of her favorite phrases is "I'm here to enable you to do it yourself." She loves it when she sees the 'aha' moments when students get it and when they return to tell her that they have put into practice what they learned in her classes. Rhonda says that she has "seen first-hand how the OCLS classes have impacted lives in positive ways, empowering them. I'm part of the solution. That's a great worthwhile feeling." When not teaching classes, Rhonda loves to travel. She has a goal to visit all 50 states and has 14 more to go. She has visited 15 countries and plans to go to more! As a history buff, she enjoys visiting historical sites and museums on her travels. She likes to create by remodeling, laying tile, painting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and doing arts and crafts. She loves to cook and bake and regularly sings with a church band and leads hymns on Sunday mornings. She also sings at a small local restaurant a couple nights a week! A few words of wisdom that Rhonda would like to impart to students are "Have patience with yourself! Nothing is learned instantaneously. The best thing you can do when learning something new is practice, practice, and practice some more."
.: Tech Tip of the Month!
Opening a Link in a New Tab
While browsing a Web page, there are often many links we want to explore. Tabbed browsing allows us to do this.
Open links in new tabs easily by clicking on a link with the mouse-wheel. This works in Firefox and Internet Explorer. Note that the link opens in the background, so you might not notice it unless you're looking for it.
