Welcome to our October edition! Check out the What’s New section for details on our new Whiz Kids program and The Big Read Digital Storytelling classes, all new for the month of October! And, remember take advantage of the opportunity to attend an in-person computer class at any of our library locations or virtually from your home or office computer!
.: Whiz Kids
Beginning in October, the Library will be offering Whiz Kids, the tech club where kids can use their imagination, explore and be creative! Kids, ages 6-12, will learn how to create digitized comics, animate images, mix music, make movies, and much more. Five pilot locations, Alafaya, Orlando Public Library, South Creek, Winter Garden, and West Oaks, will launch this new program.

.: The Big Read - Using Technology to Tell Stories
A variety of computer classes will be offered at all library locations throughout the month of October in celebration of the Orange County Library System’s award of The Big Read grant to celebrate The Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. The featured classes are Create A Photo Story Collage with Adobe Photoshop, Bring a Story to Life with Sound Effects, and Tell A Story with Digital Media. Select a course track that suits your small business interests to learn the latest computer software programs and run your business more efficiently. Big Fish Games gives you access to popular and fun educational video games to play on your computer! Choose from a large selection of arcade games, puzzles, and word games. There is even something for kids! Play Bingo with your favorite Nick Jr friends or help the Wonder Pets save the Puppy. You can even play Candy Land using your favorite Dora the Explorer characters! You will need an Orange County Library card in good standing to access and download the computer games.
