Welcome to the Technology @ OCLS September 2011 Newsletter. Check out the What’s New section for details on our upcoming Job Seeker Class series and Job Seekers Workshop! Classes and Workshops will be held at multiple library locations this month. Don’t forget, Labor Day is September 5! Check out the System Holiday Closing Schedule for a list of closing dates for all Library locations. .: Job Seeker Class Series
The Job Seeker Class series has been updated! These classes have new information, exercises, and titles! Resume Writing, Job Seeker Letters for Employment, Search and Apply for Jobs Using the Internet, and Preparing for the Job Interview are all new! Even if you have taken these classes previously, we welcome you to attend the new and improved versions. These classes are the prerequisite for the all new Job Seeker Workshop. Register today!

.: Gear Up for Success Today! Job Seekers Workshop
In this workshop you will follow the path of a job seeker and learn how to create professional resumes, cover letters, and ways to maximize your job search success. You will also get the chance to enhance your interviewing skills through mock interviews. This workshop provides a collaborative learning environment where you can share with and learn from other students. You will build upon skills learned in the Job Seeker Class Series. The one hour Open Lab: Resume Writing, follows the workshop and will give job seekers time to work on their resumes with a Technology Trainer for help with formatting, saving, and uploading. This workshop will be held at multiple branch locations. Space is limited, so register today!

.: Featured Database of the Month
Tutor.com is an exciting database that allows access to free tutoring sessions! Chat with a professional tutor online from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. This site enables you to ask questions, upload homework or documents, and even draw pictures on a whiteboard to share with your tutor! Tutoring services are available to students K - 12, college level and adult learners in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, GED prep, and citizenship classes. There are even services for Job Seekers! You can request assistance in creating resumes, cover letters, and proofreading once they are complete. This live one-to-one help is a FREE service you can access with a library computer or from your home/office computer with your library card!
.: Mobile Apps - What can you do on your phone?
When you aren’t sure what you want to read, watch, or listen to; try Shake It! available for iPhone and Android phones, this app allows you to either lock down or leave choices open to suggestion. Give your phone a shake and you get a suggestion for a book, movie, or audiobook. Just tap the screen and you can log in and request the item!
OverDrive allows you to download library media directly to your phone. Check out eBooks, with or without audio, and enjoy them on your iPhone, Android, Blackberry, or Windows Mobile device!
