Welcome to the Technology @ OCLS December 2008 Newsletter. After all of the food is eaten and the family has gone home, use OCLS to create a new you! Improve yourself with guides to eliminating stress, learning a new language, or taking one of our many computer classes.

What's New

.: Celebrate the Winter Holidays with OCLS

There may not be any snow in Florida, but you can still create a snowman! Use our Virtual Library to build a snowman, get facts about holidays and festivals, and find some other great Web sites all about the season.

.:EduGaming Extreme Technology for Teens

The Library is offering a new game design workshop for teens (ages 13-18). Learn how to create a game proposal and develop a game prototype using a Mac computer. Classes run for 8 weeks from January 7 to March 7, 2009 every Saturday. Class size is limited, sign up online today!

.:New Year, New You!

After following the holidays, everyone starts thinking about their New Year’s resolutions. We all think about how we can reduce stress, quit smoking, or how to exercise more. Well wonder no more, we can help! Use our Virtual Gallery to get ideas on how to celebrate the New Year as a new you!

This two-class series introduces you to features that can be used when creating professional publications, including newsletters, calendars, and business cards.

Microsoft Word Series – December 1 and 18
This six-class series introduces you to features that can be used when creating professional documents, including inserting and formatting tables, and mail merge.

Microsoft Excel Series – December 3 and 15
This six-class series introduces you to features that can be used when creating professional spreadsheets that include formulas, charts, and pivot tables.

Microsoft Access Series – December 4 and 17
This five-class series introduces you to features that can be used when creating a database to track and present data with tables, queries, forms, and reports.

Microsoft PowerPoint Series – December 2 and 19
This four-class series introduces you to features that can be used when creating professional slide shows with animations and slide transitions.

iWork: Numbers Series – December 22

The Library will be offering a few new classes in December. You’ll find the class titles and descriptions listed below.

Numbers Basics
Learn the basic features of iWork Numbers and how to navigate the environment. This class is taught on the Apple Mac computer.

Numbers Intermediate
Learn how to use tables in Numbers and use basic tools to create a simple spreadsheet. This class is taught on the Apple Mac computer.

Numbers Advanced
Learn how to manipulate data and graphics in Numbers by inserting and deleting data; working chart and shape; and inserting formulas. This class is taught on the Apple Mac computer.

Online Class: QuickBooks Pro Level 3
Learn how to generate and customize financial reports such as cash flows, income statements, and profit/loss reports.
