How does automatic translation work?

There are two main approaches to automatic translation: Knowledge-based or symbolic, using linguistic knowledge, and statistical, using text correspondences learned from large bodies of translation examples. Tradúcelo uses a symbolic “transfer” aproach, illustrated in the diagram below.
