I read the book Cirque du Freak A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan. It’s the first in the series of twelve.
Darren Shan and his best friends stumble upon an illegal freak show. A real freak show. No costumes or anything. No gimmicks. Is it luck? Fate? Or is it destiny? Or is just real bad luck? Who knows but once they walk into the old theater there’s no walking back from what they saw and what they discover about one of the performers.
I would rate this book a 9 out of 10. For being a “horror” book it wasn’t scary just real mind boggling. But it was so well written I was done before I wanted to.
I love how Darren Shan used his name as a character it makes you wonder. It was really well written and when he was describing things you could actually feel you’re self as Darren Shan running through cirque du freak.
