Forgetting We Parted
By: Ian Ng
Age: 16
Parting is such sweet sorrow
Perhaps the smiles...we'll forget tomorrow
Yet in spite of life's jostling waves
I await the day of some tear-less reunite,
under the hues of the gentle, setting sun
Where we'll meet, oblivious of our past ties
and our friendship, like the unremitting caterpillar
will crystallize,
shedding the handshakes,
shedding the laughs
shedding the cries
shedding--transcending existence
and become reborn
into a butterfly.
It shall be a testament to our love: whole and majestic
Come, let us watch it fly toward the setting sun
Together!
