Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
To obtain books or periodical articles not owned by the Library, the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) program used by the Orange County Library System may be of assistance. Upon payment of a $2.00 fee per item, the Library will search a database of libraries in North America to see if another library has a listing for the material in which you have an interest.
Your library account balance must be “zero” to initiate a search and the ILL fee payment must be made prior to the initiation of the search. Please note that if the Library is not able to obtain a copy of your requested material, the $2.00 search charge will not be refunded.
This service is not available for the borrowing of media (DVDs, music CDs, or books on CD) or for materials which have been in the national database for less than a year.
Some libraries we borrow from add a service charge and some may add shipping charges which are passed along to the card holder. We do not know ahead of time who the lending library will be or if they charge. We ask that you indicate in advance the limit which you are willing to pay in case service or shipping charges apply. If you indicate no fee, we will not borrow materials from libraries if there is a charge. This may reduce your chances of receiving the requested material. We recommend that to maximize your chances of successful borrowing you indicate a top limit of at least $20.
ILL requests are not accepted online. To submit an ILL request, please stop in any of our library locations or call QuestLine at 407.835.7323.
