Free library cards are available to the residents of the Orange County Library District. This district is supported by the taxpayers of Orange County except for those residing in the city limits of Winter Park and Maitland. If you reside in the Orange County Library District, and are at least 18 years old, you may apply for a library card at any of our locations or online. Library cards are valid for four years.
To apply online you must have a valid Florida Drivers License or Florida ID number and be at least 18 years of age. Your Library card will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. Once you receive your Library card in the mail it will be in a temporary status while we conduct the verification process, which will take 2 weeks from the date you submit the Library card application. While in this temporary status you will have the opportunity to place holds online, check out up to 4 items, login to our databases, sign up for classes online and use our public computers. If your Library card application cannot be processed you will be notified.
If you prefer you can register in person at any of our locations. Present photo identification such as your current Florida Driver's License or Florida State Identification, showing your correct name and residential street address within our Library District.
If your photo identification lists a P.O. Box or any address other than your correct residential street address also present one of the following items that is in your name and has the correct residential street address on it:
- Current Property Tax Receipt for Real Property
- Current home telephone, cable or utility bill with service address
- Current bank statement
- Current paycheck stub
- Current school schedule
If you want to verify if you have a card for the Orange County Library System, please call us at 407.835.7323. If you already have an account and need to replace your card, please visit any Orange County Library System location. There will be a $3.00 charge for a new card. We will inform you if you already have a card in the system with outstanding fines/fees.
